Justice

In the figural statue of Justice, the author made full use of his typical construction of reduced cylindrical shapes, which lead to an interesting dialogue with similarly dimensioned columns in the facade of the Supreme Administrative Court building.

He embodied the crucial idea of the work in the form of a heavy load lightened by a stream of water. The statue is a reflection of the weight of justice, which has to keep balance in society, and on the struggle for it. At the same time, it forms one of the four dominants (Justice, Courage, Moderation and Wisdom) through which the architect Petr Hrůša wanted to unite the urban area of Moravian Square between the Church of St. Thomas, the Governor’s Palace and the building of the Supreme Administrative Court.
